As part of its corporate strategy going into 2023 Gillan & Veldhuizen Inc. has announced an association with Phatshoeane Henny Group (PHG), the largest association of independent law firms in South Africa.

PHG’s national network spans 9 provinces and represents the largest network in South Africa focusing exclusively on empowering and positioning member firms as enterprises of choice in their respective territories.

Commenting on the association, commercial law attorney and dispute resolution specialist, PJ Veldhuizen said that owing to PHG’s large, national network along with access to excellent research and knowledge centres, the firm automatically has a greater footprint to service their clients.

Furthermore they are now fully BBBEE compliant and currently hold a Level 4 Scorecard. The company is also 26% black-owned with PHG having taken up a stake in the firm and Douglas Henney, the regional director representative of Phatshoane Attorneys has been appointed as Non-Executive Director.  “As an experienced litigator and insolvency practitioner he will bring invaluable experience to the firm acting as an independent advisor,” says Veldhuizen.

He adds that the Scorecard is a work in progress and the company will strive to reach a Level 3 which is evidenced by their current hiring policy with a focus on employment equity.

Veldhuizen says that this association will enable the firm to strategically position themselves for growth and increase their visibility. “We look forward to expanding on our corporate and commercial, specialist services to our clients which include business rescue, liquidations, sequestrations and commercial dispute resolution.”
